November, 2005 Namaste Yogis and Yoginis... It's been several months since I posted an on line newsletter but as I was reading the current issue of Yoga Journal today, I was inspired to communicate with you about the upcoming holiday season and beyond and the meaning of compassion. You may have noticed a change in the meditation portion of our practice together the past couple of weeks as we include those who are suffering from the effects of natural disasters that seem to be occurring with more and more frequency. By silently offering our good will and bringing to consciousness that suffering, perhaps we may be more inclined to turn our attention toward those who are in need as opposed to looking away. Even your kind thoughts will be felt far and wide. Practice compassion. In other news, after canceling the Friday morning classes, I have had numerous new inquiries about Fridays! So, if 6 students wish to sign up for Friday morning classes, I will re-instate the time. Contact me via email, please. Mariann Offtermatt, RYT will also be offering classes at Daily Yoga. We may alternate Friday mornings and she is planning Sunday evening, Monday and Wednesday morning classes. Please check the web site for more information. Mariann and I were in several training classes together and is about ready to receive her 500 hour certification from Yoga Alliance. Tina DiCillo is still offering her classes Thursday nights. Check Tina's web page for more information. As we approach the holidays, I will be offering some yoga-related gifts for sale in the coffee shop. Included will be a new line of note cards as well as some assorted "fun" gifts. The 2006 schedule should be up on line in about 10 days. Please let me know if you are interested in any special yoga-related ideas for this Winter. Have a great day! Namaste,
